Dr. Wang has years of research experience with both oligonucleotide and cDNA microarrays. His areas of expertise include microarray fabrication, microarray data quality control, multiple levels of data mining (i.e., individual genes, gene ontology, biological pathway, gene interaction network), as well as laser capture microdissection (LCM) and microarray data generation from nano-scale RNA samples. His research interests include improvement of current genomics technologies, development of data mining tools for biological knowledge extraction from high-throughput microarray data, and integration of genomics and proteomics data for systems biology research.

Dr. Michaelis is the project leader for the establishment of this facility. He envisioned and has enthusiastically promoted the introduction of the then-emerging high-throughput genomics technologies to the KU life science community. Dr. Michaelis is also the Chair of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at KU.
